As we age, even small declines in hand coordination and strength can impact our confidence and independence. These sessions help keep your hands supple, responsive, and connected to your brain’s natural ability to adapt.

How?

The areas of your motor cortex that control your hands and fingers may take up to 30% of its surface area. That’s why even subtle hand movements can ripple through your entire nervous system—supporting calm, improving coordination, and even helping maintain cognitive clarity over time.

This not only lead to better movement and less pain and strain in your hands, but also a calming of your entire nervous system via your motor cortex. Feldenkrais was experimenting with and refining these ideas from the 1950s right up until his last public training in 1981. And the sessions below are a integration of those ideas.

Why The Hands? Why now?

New research shows a strong link between hand coordination and cognitive health. These sessions help restore the clarity, calm, and control that stiff hands and a stressed brain can take away.

New for 2025: Introductory Chair Hand Exploration: A simple, seated session to gently wake up your hands and quiet your nervous system. Perfect if you're new to Feldenkrais or want a quick reset during your day. These subtle movements help ease tension and restore clarity—without needing to lie down or carve out extra time.

#1: Your Dominant Hand: Dozens of gentle, coordinated movements to reduce tension and restore precision in your most-used hand. This session is deeply calming and ideal for reversing patterns of overuse from typing, gripping, or daily strain. A great way to “reboot” the connection between your hand and brain.

#2 Surgeon's Hands: Reconnect your hands to your brain’s movement map. These subtle, focused movements help you regain precision, ease, and a sense of whole-body calm—anytime, anywhere.

#3 Bell Hand Number 1: Go deeper into rest. This side-lying variation of Bell Hand helps quiet the nervous system and is ideal for deep relaxation or easing into sleep.

#4 Bell Hand Number 2: Deeper and deeper, similar to the session above but a bit longer and done on your stomach and side. Perfect for doing at night when you are ready to sleep. Your body will meditate on calmness all night long.

#5 Rhythmic Tapping: Adapted from Moshe’s classic Esalen workshop, this session uses light, rhythmic tapping and movement to help re-pattern your nervous system. It gently encourages your brain to find smoother, more natural rhythms—calming your system from the inside out.

#6 Back Goes Back With A Little Bell Hand: A unique, side-lying session that blends gentle hand movement with awareness of your lower back and core. Perfect for bedtime or lazy mornings in bed, this session helps rewire the relationship between hand movement and spinal support—relieving tension and inviting whole-body ease.
